La vetrata della chiesa di San Nicolò // The stained-glass window of the Saint Nicholas Church

La vetrata della chiesa di San Nicolò è stata donata dal Prof. Dr. Manfred Fuchs, cittadino onorario di Laces, nel 2008 e disegnata e realizzata dall’artista altoatesino Robert Scherer. Rappresenta San Nicolò di Mira che secondo la leggenda dà tre palle d’oro a tre giovani vergini per salvarle dal disonore di non poter essere sposate nella loro classe sociale. Il dominante color rosso della vetrata nonché la rappresentazione capovolta della chiesa di San Nicolò rappresentano la minaccia della chiesa ai tempi di oggi.

The stained-glass window was donated by Prof. Dr. Manfred Fuchs, honorary citizen of Laces, in 2008 and was designed and made by the South Tyrolean artist Robert Scherer. It represents St. Nicholas of Myra who, according to legend, gives three golden balls to three virgins to save them from the shame of not being able to marry within their social class. The dominant red colour of the stained-glass window and the reverse representation of the Saint Nicholas Church represent the threat to the church these days.
